| For more than 4000 years gold has been used as the basis for precious jewellery, portable wealth and payment across countries and continents. Generations of alchemists have tried to produce it artificially, but without success. Gold is very precious and extremely rare. It has mesmerised man from the very beginnings of civilisation. Its unique colour, weight and malleability have given it a special place in the hearts of mankind. Today, Christian Bauer takes this amazing precious metal and makes, very simply, the most fabulous wedding rings in the world. „Gold - desired, sought after, admired” Pure gold is called fine gold and has an intensive yellow colour and is very soft. The alloy is designated as 999/000. In order to get a wearable alloy, fine gold is fused with copper and silver. In this way the wedding rings get the necessary hardness. Although Christian Bauer have made wedding rings in the past in 999/000, now only the alloys 750/000 (18carat) and 585 (14 carat) are used, 14 carat can be recognized visually by its little lighter colouring and is popular in certain markets. |

Wedding rings made of gold are very kind to the skin, however we recommend people who are very sensitive to use 18 carat gold because there is less copper in the alloy. In principle there are four colours for gold that can be distinguished; they result from the differently composed alloys. Wedding rings can be produced in 750/000 gold as well as in 585/000 gold:
